Visit

A welcome pack with ideas for day trips around the Scottish Highlands & the Isle of Skye will be in the cottage for you.

Some of our favourite ideas are:-

A morning walk along the shore to Eilean Donan Castle, perhaps stopping at Manuela’s Bakery on the way home for some freshly baked bread… or a gin from the Fairy Tale Distillery in the village if it’s a bit later in the day!

Or why not take a trip to Glenelg, coming back via the Glenelg – Kylerhea ferry which is the last manually operated turntable ferry in the world.

The world famous Bealach nam Ba road to Applecross is a brilliant day out – the drive is not for the faint hearted but so worth it for the views.

And of course, the Isle of Skye and all it has to offer… the possibilities are endless.

As hosts, born and raised in the area, we have a wealth of local knowledge about where to go and what to do … and we have the insider knowledge that the guide books don’t have! Discreet but friendly, we are on hand to help whenever you need.

Taste

For the foodies, you are in the right place.

We provide our guests with a hamper of locally-made products, which will showcase some of what is available in the local area.

Local foodie highlights include Manuela’s Wee Bakery which also houses Pizza Jo in the evening.  You will also find the Fairy Tale Gin Distillery there.

All the Goodness coffee shop serves the best takeaway coffee and baked treats (the cinnamon rolls are a must), which can be taken out to savour whilst enjoying the view over to Eilean Donan Castle

There are a few local prawn fishing boats in the area and if you time it right when they are landing you might get your hands on some. Fresh seafood at its finest.

In Dornie village (5 min drive or walk for 30 minutes and enjoy a drink) there is the Clachan Bar and the Dornie Hotel, both serving fresh, local food.  If you don’t want to cook, you really don’t have to.

Further afield, the Isle of Skye is renowned for its food and drink.

For whisky lovers, you are spoilt for choice.  Take a tour of one of the distilleries; Talisker, Torabhaig or take a trip to the Island of Raasay to the Raasay Distillery.

For a special meal out on the Isle of Skye, there is Kinloch Lodge, Edinbane Lodge (chef Calum Montgomery featured on Great British Menu in early 2022), Michelin Starred Lochbay Restaurant and The Three Chimneys just to name a few.

For a truly special experience, private catering at the property can also be arranged for you.
